Doula Services | First Moments

"How far out do you book for doula services? I have a referral for you..."

And right then, I knew it. I responded in all caps, "UMMM ARE YOU PREGNANT?" Paired with a heart-eyed emoji, of course.

She was, in fact, pregnant; 8 weeks and 1 day to be exact. My heart swelled with happiness. One of my dear friends was embarking on the windy road to parenthood, and I was excited to hold space for her along the way. The months cruised along...summer turned to fall, and fall turned to winter. Before we new it, the new year was upon us! Those first two weeks of January we all anxiously waited for any signs of labor.

Uncomfortable, restless nights, achey hips and back...all the usual end of pregnancy symptoms were making their appearance, but baby kept us on our toes. And then, it happened. The morning of her due date, nonetheless, cramping turned to contractions, and by late evening we were headed to the hospital. Mama listened to her body so well throughout the whole process; moving as she needed, turning inward and focusing on breathing when contractions got too intense. In the wee hours of the following day, she brought her adorable baby girl into this world. And I totally cried.

She had worked so hard and beautifully to get to this moment, and her husband lovingly supported her along the way. I was honored to be there to witness her strength, and support both her and her hubby as they became a family. Happy 1st birthday, baby girl. You are so very loved.
